Adversity in Difficult Times
May 3, 2022
Good morning dear God. I’m not feeling good; my tummy hurts with cramps. Please take the pain away. Writing to you always gives me joy. The joy that I can not explain, but it makes me happy. Today’s reading from the book, “God’s Promises for every day.” “What to do when you feel “Discouraged.” I sometimes feel discouraged when Fernando doesn’t know what he wants. He wants us to be together, but the housing market is outrageous. People are selling their homes for a million dollars, the same house that went for four hundred thousand dollars two years ago. Yes, I feel discouraged, God. I want to be with my husband. Please help Fernando make up his mind about what he wants our life to look like. Renting is cheaper for us. Buying a house now is crazy. But I have you, Jesus, to help us through this adversity. I trust you, sweet Jesus because you have given me hope!
Today’s reading also talks about “God having our backs” when we’re discouraged. And the reading speaks, “But the purity of your faith will bring you praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is shown to you. You have not seen Christ, but you still love him. You cannot see him now, but you believe in him. So you are filled with joy that can not be explained. And you are receiving the goal of faith, the salvation of your soul.” This is the joy that I feel in my heart, and it is unexplainable. It also states, “Think about the things that are true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected.” I genuinely believe the reading today. Years ago, when I bought my little book, God’s Promises, I bearly read the book every day unless I was desperate for help. I wrote a note for God when I was still drinking. I was close to my bottom when it came to alcohol. I was drinking myself to death and didn’t know it. But the note writes: Dear Lord, please help me with my troubles and sadness. I pray for my family, others, and friends too. I am only a little sheep. Please guide me with your love and strength, hold me up, and help others in need. I love you. Thank you for your love and protection.
