Dear God, good morning. Today we must go to court with Roman to get the necessary care from a day program. Roman will tell the judge the truth about pushing Gary, and I’m praying that the judge will order Roman to a day program. I must be an advocate for Roman because he’s going to be frightened in the courtroom. There are many people in the courtrooms, so he may have difficulty talking. I will explain to the judge that Roman suffers from bipolar and schizophrenia. Roman thinks he hears people outside and that they’re going to hurt him. Romans’ dad thinks a day program may help Roman. I told Roman, “You know we love you, right?” He said, “I know.” I don’t think Roman knows the meaning of love. But we love Roman and don’t want him to fall through the cracks of the Department of Human Services, which I pray
Gary is still upset about Roman pushing him. Gary has every right to be upset, and we need peace in our home, all three of us. Gary and I hope Roman gets the proper treatment by attending a day program. Gary loves Roman like a little brother. Gary is at his wits end with Roman. But we must pray for Roman. Roman is great when his medicines work. Please, Jesus, watch over us today; thank you.
Today’s reading is about love. How ironic. In the book, God Promises for every day, “Jesus is your Love.” It writes, “Dear friends, we should love each other because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has become God’s child and knows God.” 1 John 4:7-12
I struggled through my years of letting someone love me. I could not get close to anyone, and if you knew I was a survivor of sexual abuse and torture, you would not want anything to do with me. Then you put Burt into my life when I need him. Burt is a manly man but soft-spoken. We spent days discussing my past and his past, and Burt never left me because of our love. We had each other in early sobriety. We talked about recovery and went to meetings together. Burt is my angel. He showed me what love is, and he was very patient with me because we were in love with each other back in nineteen-eighty -seven. Burt showed me how to love others by loving me unconditionally. Burt never judged me, which was very important because I would run from him if he did. Burt was always supportive, loving, kindhearted, joyful, and playful and made me feel special. I was blessed to have Burt. Burt lives by Corinthians. Thank you, Jesus.
